Improve Digestion for the Winter months.

Last week I spoke about winter being right around the corner and how the skin is affected by the harsh elements.   Let’s talk about how the winter months and shorter days affects your inner happiness and digestion.

Feeding Happiness

Internal happiness might sound like an impossible plight. And in the state of our world, where all you hear on the news and other outlets is the saturation of grief, tragedy, and unhappiness, its even harder to imagine how you will attain any happiness for yourself from anywhere.

As the fundamental act of transformation allows us to build tissues that creates our bodies, which includes our digestive system.  Food is one way and the most potent pathway to invoke balance.

It’s time to start eating with more mindfulness in the winter months. With the dark and chilly winter days comes a need to nest, “cozy up”, and eat heavy foods. Eating the right kinds of food during the winter season is an important way to improve digestion.  As the seasons change, so too do our body’s food requirements, much like the colder dryer weather leading to dryness in the body. This is evidenced in dry skin and tired achy joints.  So, maintaining a balance during the winter months will keep the digestive fire stimulated.

I have added a few of my favorite seasonally recipes.
